Under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, individual contributions to a Toronto City Council candidate are capped at $1,200. All donations here are processed securely by card.
Secure & compliant
Every contribution is recorded for the official campaign financial statement (Form 4) filed with the Toronto City Clerk. You'll receive an emailed receipt — please note that this is not a tax receipt; municipal campaign contributions are not tax-deductible. You will instead simply receive a Rebate, to the amount shown on the table below.
Get money back
Toronto's Contribution Rebate Program reimburses eligible residents for a portion of what they donate to municipal council campaigns. Here's roughly what you'd get back:
